Symptoms range considerably depending on severity of ulcers.  Ulcer symptoms include:  decreased appetite, picky eater, won't go forward, pawing when eating, dark stools, colicky episodes, poor hair coat, irritability, aggression, poor performance, stretching out as if to urinate, girthy, weight loss, and more.

How do you treat a horse's gut ulcer?
There are medications and herbal products to help with the pain.   However, to remove the cause of the ulcers, you need TBT Ulcer Resolve.

What should you not feed a horse with ulcers?
Do not feed any grain.  Do not feed alfalfa hay, rye hay, or clover.

How are ulcers diagnosed—do I need to scope my horse?
Ulcers are officially diagnosed by endoscope.   However, the endoscope can only reach as far as the stomach.  Horses can have ulcers in their intestines, so scoping is not always the most useful option.   Some people "diagnose" by using ulcer meds and see if they help.

What’s the best treatment for horse ulcers?
The best treatment is to remove the cause of the ulcers by using TBT Ulcer Resolve.

Can I treat it without medication?Will horse ulcers heal on their own?
Some horses improve by having grass hay available 24/7.   There are also herbal treatments available for ulcers.   However, neither of these will remove the cause of the ulcers.

How long does it take to heal ulcers?
It depends on the severity of the ulcers.

What should I feed a horse with ulcers?
All horses, including ulcers with ulcers, should be fed free-choice grass hays, available 24/7.   No grains.

How to prevent them from coming back?

Directions for use: Enclosed level scoop is 1 gram. Give 1 scoop daily for horses 1000-1200 lbs. Give 1/2 scoop daily for horses 500 lbs or under. Reseal after each use.
